Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) The British Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina is part of the United Kingdom’s world-wide diplomatic network, and represents British political, economic and consular interests in Sarajevo and is now looking to recruit a Project Manager, Democratisation
Working as part of the British Embassy Sarajevo Programme Team, the successful candidate will develop and manage projects supporting democratisation, and work with the Communications Officer to strengthen communication of the embassy’s programme activities.
Main roles and responsibilities:
Work with the embassy and regional programme teams to design and develop projects related to democratisation. This will include projects aiming to support citizen activism and engagement, including on the environment, and projects to strengthen citizen participation in decision-making. It will also include projects aiming to support an independent, effective media sector.
Manage a portfolio of projects under these themes, monitoring project results, risks and finances and ensuring effective delivery of projects within project duration and budget.
Develop strong working relationships with project implementers, beneficiaries, other donor organisations and other relevant stakeholders to ensure projects are well-targeted and achieving the desired results.
Manage the preparation of project documentation and maintenance of relevant project files and provide accurate and timely reporting on projects.
Provide technical advice and guidance on financial, reporting and procurement procedures to Project Implementers in support of project implementation.
As UK project funding is highly flexible and adaptive, the jobholder will be expected to adapt quickly and take on new areas of work as required.
Work with the embassy Communications Manager to strengthen communication of the embassy’s programme aims and activities, particularly through social media.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Verbal and written fluency in English and one of the BiH constituent languages;
Project and programme management experience, preferably on projects relating to democracy or the media;
Excellent problem solving skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to network and work collaboratively with others;
Ability to think creatively and take a proactive role in achieving team objectives;
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility and ability to learn quickly;
Intermediate skills with MS Word and Excel.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Clean driving licence;
Experience in managing social media and communications

This is a full-time position of 5 working days, 41 hours per week.
The position is offered initially for one year with a possible extension for another year upon successful completion of three month probation period and subject to the availability of funding.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Bosnia-Herzegovina in order to apply.
The successful candidate will be hired under the Terms and Conditions of British Embassy Sarajevo and social contributions will be paid accordingly.
The monthly salary for this position is 4.203 BAM gross per month. In addition, members of staff receive a meal allowance and transport allowance as per Terms & Conditions.
Staff members recruited locally by the British Embassy in Bosnia-Herzegovina are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Bosnia-Herzegovina employment law.
