Join us on Wednesday, May 6th for an online Socality x Canon Creator Lab workshop with instruction from chef, photographer, and Netflix’s “Restaurants on the Edge” co-host Dennis Prescott (@dennistheprescott) as he instructs the second of two live online workshops on the subject of Food Photography & Styling. Dennis’ sessions will focus on storytelling through your food photography in Session I and will emphasize how to use styling to take your food stories to another level in Session II. While Dennis will be using food as a primary subject, the principles he shares can be applied to a wide variety of disciplines and creative projects.

This second session will cover themes including:

  • Recap and overview from Session I
  • What is food styling and how do you tell a story with your styling?
  • Food styling gear – propping, backgrounds, toolkit, and extras
  • The marriage of styling & photography, and how the two are interconnected
  • Food styling in restaurant settings – how to capitalize on available space and props in restaurant settings
  • Q&A Session
  • & more

This workshop will include a combination of live teaching from Dennis and a Q&A portion.

About Dennis:

Dennis Prescott is a celebrated Canadian chef and cookbook author, and co-host of the Netflix series “Restaurants on the Edge”. A once struggling musician living in Nashville, TN, Prescott learned how to cook by working his way through several Jamie Oliver cookbooks. His studies quickly turned to a food obsession, where he started his booming Instagram account full of photos of mouth-watering food and eclectic recipes. Prescott began working alongside chefs in various restaurants, leading him to travel the world as a chef. Having spent time experimenting with countless cooking techniques and recipes, and teaching numerous communities how to cook, Prescott’s expertise led him to his role as co-host of the new Netflix series “Restaurants on the Edge”. His latest cookbook, Eat Delicious, is in stores now.
