EAT is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming our global food system through sound science, impatient disruption and novel partnerships. Founded by the Stordalen Foundation, Stockholm Resilience Centre and Wellcome Trust in 2013, EAT’s dedicated team members work together towards a fair and sustainable global food system for healthy people, animals and planet with the aim of leaving no one behind. All milestones towards this vision are important contributions towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Accord.

They believe that EAT offers a rewarding, international and dynamic working environment and a unique opportunity for young career starters to play a role in building a healthy, equitable and sustainable global food system. They welcome applications from engaged and energetic individuals for their full-time internships in Oslo and Stockholm. Please refer to the specific requirements and deadlines for each position below.

Terms of Employment

  • The internships are paid full-time positions requiring 40 hours of work per week inclusive of lunch hours. Interns will have free access to the canteen during working days.
  • The set duration of employment is initially 3 months with possible extensions up to a total of 6 months. The desired start date is as soon as possible.
  • Interns are expected to supply their own computers for work including any pre-installed software required for the position (e.g. Microsoft Office/Apache OpenOffice, Adobe CC, etc).
  • EAT is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all employees.
  • EAT is unable to sponsor visas or work permits and it is the responsibility of the intern to ensure that they are legally permitted to work in Oslo or Stockholm.

 Development intern (Oslo):

The main focus of the Development Team is to build partnerships and create funding opportunities from the private and public sector and also philanthropic organizations and NGOs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Scoping, mapping, identifying and researching prospective partners and funders
  • Assess, analyze and recommend approach to prospects
  • Writing preparatory notes and briefing material for the team

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s or master’s degree (completed or ongoing) in a relevant field (e.g. journalism, business, sustainability etc.), with an understanding of cross-disciplinary linkages.
  • Strong academic records and excellent English language skills are required.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Structured and disciplined with an eye for detail.
  • Passion for EAT’s mission.

Engagement Intern (Oslo)

The Engagement Intern will join EAT as part of the dynamic Engagement and Communications Team and report to the Project Manager for Global Engagement.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and execution of key events of varying sizes simultaneously including the annual EAT Stockholm Food Forum, EAT’s flagship event.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders and assist with upholding project timelines and priorities.
  • Conduct background research and produce written materials including invitation letters, briefs, bios, reports and digital communication content.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s or professional degree (completed or ongoing) in an area of the food, health and sustainability nexus.
  • Strong academic records and excellent English language skills are required in addition to expertise in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational, teamwork and interpersonal skills and a high working capacity.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to provide relevant information to external and internal stakeholders.
  • A problem solver who is self-reliant, structured and disciplined with an eye for detail.

Science Communications Intern (Stockholm)

EAT is looking for a creative and energetic Science Communications Intern based in Stockholm to support the roll out of the global campaign for a landmark scientific report – the EAT-Lancet Commission on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems. You are someone with excellent written English who can convert complex scientific jargon into sharp, beautiful prose that people want to read. You are comfortable communicating with a wide range of people and have proven knowledge of the food, health and sustainability nexus. The successful candidate will be part of EAT’s dynamic Engagement and Communications Team and collaborate daily with EAT’s headquarters in Oslo while reporting to the Stockholm-based Communications Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support EAT’s Communications and Engagement Team in rolling out a global campaign.
  • Develop story angles and pitches to scientific and popular media journalists in close collaboration with our strategic PR launch partners.
  • Write and produce engaging stories, OpEds, press releases and content for web, press and social media.
  • Contact targeted scientific media outlets to generate coverage of the report and discussion of its conclusions.
  • Liaise and collaborate with key communications partners on relevant issues.
  • Update communications representatives at Commissioner Institutions to align on launch plans.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science communications, journalism, PR or equivalent, preferably with a focus on food, health and sustainability nexus.
  • Knowledge of the science behind global challenges and development issues.
  • Fluency in English both written and spoken with a sharp pen.
  • Good with scientific data analysis.
  • Confident communicator who can engage with a variety of stakeholders.

Social Media Intern (Oslo)

Are you a social media wiz who wants to change the way the world eats? We are looking for a creative and energetic Social Media Intern to run our Instagram and Facebook accounts, as well as to produce engaging content for our website, blog, Twitter, and the EAT podcast. The position is based in Oslo and the successful candidate will be part of the dynamic Engagement and Communications Team and report to the Oslo-based Communications Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop engaging content on a daily basis based on EAT’s publishing plan.
  • Showcase EAT’s vision, mission, its people and organization on our social media platforms.
  • Contribute to the EAT-Lancet Report’s launch strategy and its execution in social media.
  • Contribute to the social media plan for the annual EAT Stockholm Food Forum, EAT’s flagship event.
  • Be part of EAT’s work with global food influencers and assist the Communications Team in developing creative new media projects and concepts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in communications, journalism, PR, advertising or equivalent.
  • Up-to-date and knowledgeable on features and attributes of key social media channels.
  • Creative, solutions-oriented and able to maneuver in a fast paced and fun work environment.

 Graphic Design Intern (Oslo)

The Graphic Design Intern will join EAT as part of the Engagement and Communications Team and will report to the dedicated Graphic Designer.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist with meeting EAT’s multimedia needs including producing videos, presentations, posters, leaflets, backdrops, publications, newsletters, etc.
  • Develop creative content for EAT’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Publish stories, photos and videos, and create pages for EAT’s website.
  • Support in creating EAT-branded marketing materials.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree (completed or ongoing) in graphic design, communications or equivalent with documented English proficiency.
  • Experience with basic web and CMS (WordPress).
  • Confident with Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel) and the Adobe package (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and After Effects).
  • A creative problem solver who is detail oriented, capable of taking directions and following specific design guidelines.
  • Able to work efficiently and deliver with high quality under tight deadlines.

Policy Intern (Oslo)

The Policy Intern will join EAT’s Policy Team that translates science into action by advancing integrated food systems policies at local, national and international levels; co-ordinates impactful programs with civil society organizations, policymakers and global institutions; and informs engagement and event content and strategy. The Policy Team is led by the Director of Policy and consists of the Head of International Policy and three Policy Officers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Help draft EAT’s policy- and program-related materials including scoping work, desk research, and content development.
  • Support the broader EAT team with preparation of materials, logistics and administrative matters for upcoming engagements and events including the annual EAT Stockholm Food Forum, EAT’s flagship event.
  • Help coordinate EAT’s social media, communications and advocacy campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Completed masters or professional degree in a field related to political science, law, development studies, medical sciences and public health, environment and climate change, ideally with technical depth in an area of the food, health and sustainability nexus and an understanding of cross-disciplinary linkages.
  • Strong academic records and excellent English language skills are required.
  • Strong organizational, teamwork and interpersonal skills and a high working capacity.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to provide relevant information to external and internal stakeholders.
